08 Mar Launch of NHS Test Beds Programme- Wave 2
NHS England and the Office for Life Sciences have launched the second wave of the NHS Test Beds programme, for NHS organisations and industry to bid for funding and support to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the health service.
This is an exciting opportunity for our region to collaborate on an innovative approach to addressing health priorities for the population.
Find out more about the seven Test Beds currently involved in the first wave of the programme here.
There are two strands, with up to £4.5 million available from the Office for Life Sciences for tackling challenges informed by national and local priorities, including:
- NHS England’s priority areas in the Five Year Forward View and its Next Steps
- priority areas identified by transformation partnerships (STPs)
A second strand will allocate up to £1.5 million from NHS England to support Test Beds that tackle a challenge specifically on learning and self-management support for people with Type 2 diabetes.
Individual projects will receive between £500,000 and £1.5 million. Small and medium size enterprises will be remunerated for some costs in line with Innovate UK’s grant funding rules.
Who should bid
Each bid must be led by an NHS provider organisation and should be a partnership between NHS organisations and businesses to solve a specific health and care challenge through a combination of digital products and pathway development, which will be evaluated during the programme.
We recommend that bidding NHS organisations should seek to directly engage their STP as a connected partner in order to prepare for the eventual adoption and spread of a successful Test Bed.
