Primary Partner – Liverpool John Moores University

Background

The Art Clinic Liverpool is an arts and health organisation that delivers innovative projects to support people to improve and maintain emotional health and well-being.

Founded in 2007 this social enterprise delivers themed workshops to produce resources that will improve individual’s health.

Approaching the programme

The Art Clinic have produced an online Emotional Empowerment resource which is an educational website called The Art of Emotion and they needed support with all the stages of getting the product to market.

They were introduced to the HIE programme through Catalyst Business Solutions.

What we did

LJMU have helped the Art Clinic hold an event with a group of students at the university to assess the design and impact of the website. By using this information, the organisation were able to finalise the resource with confidence.

They also worked with a student who explored the feasibility of producing a mobile app for the Emotional Empowerment resource. It was concluded that the web site functioned well and an app would be excess to requirements. This research was invaluable to their business model as it saved the organisation time and money.

The Art Clinic have also been invited to attend informative events to learn about the processes involved in presenting products for use within the NHS.

Our results

This support has helped to clarify their goals in terms of how they want to proceed with delivering our service. The support has been beneficial because it has been what was needed to steer them in the right direction, avoiding pitfalls that they may otherwise have encountered.

Being able to network with other SMEs who are in a similar position has also been invaluable.
The organisation are now awaiting support to introduce their resource to key mental health leads within local health and education services.
